PayPal Transactions Extension

Hi, I've been using the PayPal transactions extension without any problems until today when the attached error appeared.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the extension. I'm using Moneydance 2023.2 on MacOS 14.1.1.

   Hi Gavin,
   We are sorry to hear about the problem you have encountered.

   Upgrading to the latest preview version should hopefully fix the problem for you.
   Moneydance 2023.2 (5060) is now available to download from this page.

   For a full list of improvements in the preview version, please refer to this page.

   You should choose to overwrite the previous version and restart Moneydance.

   Finally, navigate to Extensions->Manage Extensions and ensure that the Paypal extension is up-to-date as well.

   I hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have further questions or need more assistance.

   Thanks for your quick reply.

   I’ve downloaded the Preview version of Moneydance. Installed and overwrote the existing installation. Restarted my Mac, just in case. Unfortunately, the same error appears.

   I’ve uninstalled all extensions and tried to reinstall the PayPal downloader but it won’t even install now. I’ve tried it from within the app and adding it from a separate file.

   I can reinstall other extensions. It only seems to be the PayPal downloader which has stopped working since the recent update.

   If all else fails, can I reinstall the earlier version of Moneydance where this extension worked?

   If you click the OK button, you can continue and Moneydance should run normally. To get the extension back, you can then select the Extensions -> Manage Extensions menu and reinstall the Paypal extension from the list of available extensions.

   Additionally, I've added the PayPal importer's developer to this discussion who should be able to provide further information.

   Thanks. Sorry, I probably wasn’t clear. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the PayPal extension but it won't install.

   I’ve tried to install it from within Moneydance and I’ve downloaded the extension and tried to install it as a file. Neither method works currently.

   So now the PayPal extension doesn’t appear in my list of installed extensions.

   Maddy for information. Windows 11 MD 2023.2(5060).
   PayPal is listed under extensions, clicking Install bring up the install window but clicking on Install Extension does nothing, it want install.

   I've gone back to MD 2023.1 (5006) and have been able to install and run the PayPal Importer extension without any problems.

   The issue seems to have appeared in MD 2023.2.

   It looks like the error message has been suppressed in 2023.2 (5060) but the issue remains.

   It's going to be a pain to fix this extension.. I've asked the IK developer if he can tweak the MD code back so that it does not cause the issue...

    PS. As well as the MD code fix, it will require a small fix to the extension too. I can’t test it until we get 5061. But assuming that’s ok then it will be quick for the fix.

    I have been able to install the new build (5061) and the new PPI extension successfully. The error message no longer appears.

    However, although I can open the PPI extension, add my credentials and click Import no further progress is made and no transactions are downloaded.

    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and left the extension running for several minutes but still without progress. I am able to cancel the import and start again but that's all.

    I’ve double-checked my PayPal credentials, which haven't changed.

    I'm the developer of the PayPal Importer extension. Thanks all for jumping in and helping.

    With the new build 2023.2 (5061) there is indeed another issue, which Gavin described above: The extension can be installed, but gets stuck and does not download transactions. The underlying cause is visible in the Console Window:

    java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: class com.moneydance.modules.features.paypalimporter.model.Transaction cannot inherit from final class com.infinitekind.moneydance.model.OnlineTxn
    

    This is not something I can fix on my end. Like with the previous issue, we need to ask Sean for help to tweak the Moneydance code.

    Version 11 of the PayPal Importer extension is compatible with Moneydance 2023.3 (5063). It is waiting for sign off here: New version 11 of PayPal Importer extension

    Just a note to say that version 11 of the extension is signed and available for download. If you check the Extension Manager it should now appear as an update. If not, then if you uninstall the extension and then re-install from the Extension Manager you'll be sure to get the latest update.

    Though I don't personally use the PPI extension, I would like to compliment Florian, Sean and Stuart for their efforts in resolving this in what is a very short time in Software Developer space!

    This kind of support is not available with most software I use.
