Downloading into Excel usable format and/or reporting by vendor.

I am trying to do two things in MoneyDance:

1) Download either transactions or reports in an Excel friendly format. I am trying to use the csv limited feature, but it is saving the result in a file type that Excel (or any of my applications) do not recognize. How do I download into an Excel usable format.

2) Run a transaction history by vendor. I do not see any reporting filter or feature that allows me run a report by vendor (although I could do it via Excel if I could solve #1 above).

Any help would be appreciated.

Extension. Extra-data. Probably the extract account registers option. Just extract all to csv, open in excel. Filter/sum/pivot in there.

    Hi Salan Cook,

    1) Can you confirm that when you export the report that you are retaining the .csv file extension when naming the report? e.g. reportname.csv

    2) The Transaction Filter report provides a 'Description' field in the parameters settings so as to enter the name of a particular vendor to generate results on.

    Hi Salan Cook

I have an extension called Report Writer which allows you to select any MD record and output the data as an Excel spreadsheet.

    1. Download reportwriter.mxt from https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/downloads/.
    2. Use menu Extensions/Manage Extensions and the 'Add From File' button to load the extension.
    3. Read the Wiki https://bitbucket.org/mikerb/moneydance-2019/wiki/Report%20Writer to understand how it works.

The extension has a lot of features so it is important that you read the Wiki. Post any queries you have about this.

No, when I try to print a transaction filtered report, it gives me the options
of printing or saving.  When I try to save, it gives me the four options, but
when I try to save as a csv file, it defaults to the name "Transaction File" and
a file type of "All Files".  It does not give me the option of adding a ".csv"
    file extension.

    Hi S Alan Cook,

When you Save the Transaction Filter report as a CSV, the resulting window offers a place to name the report file and if necessary, add the .csv file extension.

That worked.  Sorry I didn't think of it.  Thanks.
