beginning balances changing

I may have a bigger problem than the beginning balances. I went into by backup file and stupidly opened one and it seems its wiped out all my input data. if I open my Moneydance it shows absolutely nothing

  1. Initial Balance

    You can set the "Initial Balance" when creating an account.

    The "Initial Balance" can also be altered at any time by editing the account.

    An initial balance is can be referred to as a starting balance, opening balance or a beginning balance.
     

    Select the account in the sidebar.
    Then select Account > Edit Account.
    In this window, you'll see the "Initial Balance" field.

    It sounds like you have created more data sets (files) and are not opening the one you want.

    Use the Moneydance menu command File --> Open and look at the names presented one of then should be the one you need.

    Thank you for a quick response. I’m confused, I hit the Moneydance menu but there is nothing offering file or command file..
