Creating a new account makes the original disappear

We have a second bank checking account. I created the account. The next day the original account had disappeared. I was able to restore it from a backup. Now the new bank account has disappeared. Is MoneyDance only able to handle one checking account?

You can use Command ⌘ instead of Control ^ on Mac

The software can handle as many account as you want.
Is it possible that when you went to create a new account you selected the menu option File --> New rather that Account --> New Account.
Doing so would be consistent with what you have seen.
