Moneydance Memory Issue
Moneydance appears to be chewing up my application memory. It starts when I open the app and I can watch the app memory utilization rise even when I'm not using the app (through Activity Monitor). From other posts, this sounds like a known issue. Any ideas on a strategy to fix? Thank you.

Turn off iCloud sync and switch to Dropbox folders.
If that’s not your issue, grab help/console, upload that here.

Hi Steve
You don’t say if your computer is a Mac or if you are syncing to another device using iCloud?
If so try installing the free version of Dropbox Client so you can see a Dropbox folder on your hard drive and then sync with the sync method Dropbox Folder.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. That seemed to fix the problem.

It's now two months later. It seems that the problem still exists in 2024.1. Is there any sign of a fix?

Any chance of a fix for this? I have no desire to use dropbox.

Is Moneydance working on this problem? Can we expect a resolution soon? Sometime?
I use Moneydance on a Mac and would like to use iCloud sync, but without a fix for this memory issue the Moneydance product support for iCloud sync is useless and I'll have to go back to Dropbox.

I'm not sure if they're addressing the issue. I went back to Dropbox for
just this one application.

Hi
Its my understanding that the changes that Apple made to iCloud have made it impractical to get Moneydance syncing using iCloud to work as it did before, unless Apple make further changes that made it practical.
So if you want to sync Moneydance use Dropbox. Preferably Dropbox folder.
Hope this helps.

With the advent of Sonoma, Apple introduced "dateless files" for mobile syncing of iCloud to avoid iCloud files taking up space on your local disk. This system management of data in iCloud interferes with the way that MD syncs data since both systems are trying to optimize for different things. I doubt that there is going to be a fix in the near future (if at all).

@sth, do you mean "dateless" or "dataless"

"Dataless"! Damn auto correct. That is what happens when you let AI think it knows better than I do what I am trying to say! :-)
