Importing QFX into new account for same bank returns error
Please help.
I wanted to set up a new account for 2024 with my bank. My current account covers 2018-march 2024.
I created a new account based on my 2018-2024 bank account.
I then downloaded a QFX to my downloads folder then used the File:Import while in the new account.
Nothing loaded in for 2024.
The console window reports this:
Imported book: Chase1569_Activity_2012802507-1 root: Chase1569_Activity_2013860507-1
Ignoring extraneous OFX tag: <DTSTART>20240102120000[0:GMT]
Ignoring extraneous OFX tag: <DTEND>20240401120000[0:GMT]
it took 0.223 seconds to eliminate 233 duplicates from 233 downloaded transactions
Was asked to re-open same account book: Chase1569_Activity_20180507-1
no-op'ing
Is this not downloading becuase it believes those are duplicates? What can I do to get this to work?

Do you mean a new account in an existing Moneydance data file or starting a completely new Moneydance data file?
It sounds like a new account in an existing data file, to which I would ask why do you want to do this? Further if this is the case then the behaviour you describe would be expected as Moneydance maintains a link between OFX/QFX files and Moneydance accounts using the header information in the downloaded files. To change this you would have to clear the existing link which in recent Moneydance releases there is a menu option to do so.

DWG, thanks for responding.
I want to create a new account to start fresh from 2024 forward. My current account is way off and I cannot seem to figure out why it does not match up with my bank. It covers several years so rather than wasting time spinning my wheels I figured it be easier to start fresh.
I am not sure what you mean by "clear the existing link". Is that with the QFX file or the account? You mention a "menu option" Where is this and is this something that is applied to the QFX file or the account?
Thanks.

The menu option Online → Match Online Accounts serves two functions in Moneydance.
These are:
1. It shows you the remembered account number links for manually imported files and has an option to remove this
2. It shows you the OFX Direct Connect links you have created.
To disassociate a remembered import link, within the Match Online Accounts window you can:
1. Select “Imported OFX/QFX Files”
2. Identify the account with the mapping you want to change
3. Use the pull down next to the account box and from the presented list select “None”
When you next import a file into this account it should prompt if you want to remember the link.

Dwg,
Thank you, that worked for what I needed to do. I established the new Acct with my bank and imported the recent QFX for 2024. Your assistance saved me much frustration.
