Won't import downloaded data

Hi,
I am reconciling my accounts today. My credit card data downloads, but will not import into my account. I've been doing this several times a month for years, and this is the first time I've had trouble. (I'm importing my bank data today with no issue.) A file does download from my credit card company. When it didn't import, I tried to manually import under file>import. That did not work. I have closed out Moneydance and I have logged out of my credit card's website. Neither action helped. I called the credit card company and he was certain the problem was not on their side. Perhaps a little too certain as he said, "If it's downloading, it should be fine." He did verify no one else has called in with this problem. Can you please make suggestions on how I might fix this.

Thanks

Well I would first open up the downloaded file in a text editor to make sure it really does have transaction data in it.

Thank you. I've not used text editors. What would be examples. Looking for something safe and prefereably free or low price. (It does say the file is 2kb which is what my files with them have always been in the past.)

Mac or Windows? Both of those have built in text editors. Mac calls theirs "textedit" for example.

Windows. I just typed in Text Editor and it gave me information on notepad. I'd already tried notepad and it didn't even see the file in my download list.

You did not tell us what sort of file you downloaded. It is most likely to be OFX, QFX or QIF and have one of these as the file extension, I would presume you know what the name is of the file you downloaded so should be able to look for that. You will have to find where you downloaded the file to. Notepad will open all of these file types.

You could also open any of these file up in a word processor like Microsoft Word, just don't save it using these programs.

In addition to the above suggestions, a few things to check:

Make sure the All button is selected at the top of your register. Some of the other options can filter out recent transactions from the active view.

Do you see a bar towards the bottom of your register that says something like '## Unconfirmed Transactions'? If so, you have the split register view active. You can either click and drag this bar up to reveal your unconfirmed transactions, or exit this view by clicking on the 'box' icon just to the right of the New Transaction button.

Thank you.  It worked today. My guess is it was on their side.
