I have changed computers and when I imported my qif file, I was not given the option to use AUD. It imported as GPB and I cannot change this. Can you please advise?

It is best to either just transfer the entire data file directory. Or second best to export a full backup (File->Export Backup) and then move the file to the new computer and import that backup.

QIF files are a terrible non-standard format and a lot of information is lost.

Thank you – the export backup worked.

But now I cannot figure out where Moneydance has actually saved the file. Does that actually matter? I opened the backup from dropbox, and I checked dropbox to see if that’s where the Moneydance file was saved, but it’s not there.

We use QIF files to migrate between different finance programs simple because there is nothing better and QIF is better than most.

It is not the tool to use to transfer Moneydance data between computers.

@sth mentioned both commonly used methods.

One method is documented in the Knowledge Base article:

    https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/file-locations-and-changes/moving-to-a-new-computer

On your recent post when you export a Moneydance backup it displays a dialog where you specify the location and optionally change the name, you can run is again and note the location or you an search your system for files with a .moneydancearchive file extension.

Well it is important where it is saved because you are going to need to copy the file from this location to the new computer, using a network location, a USB key or something.

Under "Help" open documents folder option. This should show you where they are being kept. It varies by OS.
