Moneydance 2024 build 5113 - Popups opening 'closed' on Linux

Hi All
Moneydance 2024 build 5113 running on Linux Mint.
Popups, eg Preference menu are opening up as a very slim vertical bar that has to be expanded manually using the mouse before anything can be seen in the popup.

    Hello, and thanks for trying out the preview version. I'm not seeing this on my ubuntu installation. I wonder if there might be something specific to your configuration. Can you say if you have multiple displays, or anything else that might be different from a very basic setup?

    Also, if you resize and then close the preferences window, does it have the same problem the next time you open it?

    Out of interest, if you run toolbox, does it popup any invalid window size/location warnings. This might highlight the problem....

    Hi Sean
    I have 3 monitors. It doesn't seem to matter which one the main MD window is open on. The skinny popups all open on the middle monitor. Resizing the popup & closing it doesn't help. The next open is still skinny.

    New info - the main MD window opens skinny as do the popups!
    I have now updated to 5114. No improvement.

    After two updates - now running 5115 this problem still troubles me.
    ALL MD windows & popups open 'skinny' on my system.
    Help would be appreciated.

    Later - I've just noticed that both the reconcile windows seem to open normally! Nothing else does.

    Could you try running this Toolbox fix and let us know if it helps?

    From within Moneydance, navigate to Extensions->Manage Extensions and install the Toolbox (v.1065)

    Launch the Toolbox and select Update Mode

    Finally choose Menu: General Tools. Update Functions-> Reset Window Display Settings choose the option relevant to you (in the drop-down menu) and restart Moneydance!

    I tried your suggestion but it didn't help - I still have skinny windows.
    I've just updated again, now on 5116, no change to my problem

    Hi Ian,
    Could you run the following two commands in a terminal window and post the output into a response here? This should show all of the stored sizes and locations for moneydance windows.

    grep '.size' ~/.moneydance/config.dict

    and also:

    grep '.loc"' ~/.moneydance/config.dict

    With MD running
    The 1st command produced:-

     "gui.winsize-mainwindow" = "1074x650"
      "print.font_size" = "12"
          "print.stub_size" = "30"

    The 2nd command produced no output.

    Toolbox can grab all the sizes for you. I think it’s in the curios button and search/find all window locations / sizes. Can you run that and upload the contents?

    I still can't reproduce this, and I'm sure it's because I only have a single monitor setup.

    From the toolbox output, the main window location is stored as 4021x27. 4021 is a pretty big number for a x value, so I think it's probably a saved location from the middle display, or possibly right-most display.

    Can you try resizing the main window, move it to the left-most display, then close and restart moneydance, and let me know if the same problem happens?

    Also, do you know if you have your displays at 1x scale, or did you need to add the launch properties to set the scale at something greater than 1x?

    Hi Sean
    Getting there! Re-sized my main MD window moved it to the LH monitor,
    closed & re-opened it & it opened normally. Other popups that try to open
    on the LH monitor also open normally.
    Popups that try to open on other than the LH monitor open skinny.
    I have tried the Toolbox option to reset window positions but some popups
    continue to open on other than the LH monitor.
    How can I force all popups to open on the same monitor the main window
    occupies?

    No improvement. Everything that opens on my LH monitor opens properly. Everything that opens on my middle or RH monitor opens skinny.

    I have the identical issue as landarkwater.
    have also tried the above suggestions with the same results.
    Running Ubuntu 2024.04 beta.
    3 monitor setup.

    I have just upgraded to v5118 & am happy to confirm everything is back to normal. No more skinny popups!
    Actually, things are better than before because MD now remembers where it was on my 3 monitor setup & re-opens there.
    Before it always opened on my LH monitor. It was hardly a problem but now it's even better.
