MoneyDance 2024 tags scrolling STILL broken
2 pages of changes made in MD2014.1, but still the same broken scrolling of tags list in the newest version. Last response from IK which I've seen (from Maddy) says "Known bug in MD using Windows. Developers informed". If they were informed, WHY oh WHY can't they fix this bug, which has spoilt my use of MD since at least 2021?

Keith,
I can't find your previous post on this and the reply from Maddy. In the tags field I get a pop-up window with a list of tags and that window has a scroll bar that works. Possibly the post was made private.
Are you just asking for access to the tag list via tab and arrow keys? How did it work to select multiple tags?
(NOT IK Support)

1 (One of) my previous posts/Maddy reply was at
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/discussions/problems/72520-probl...
2 No, I'm not asking for access to the tag list via tab and arrow keys. And I can select
multiple tags fine. It's just that I can't find them, thanks to the defective/weird scrolling behaviour!
3 I attach a screenshot video showing
* moving the scroll bar handle with no effect, instead of allowing smooth scrolling of the full list of tags, keeping the alphabetical order * if cursor moves over tags list, the list does move. One block of tags shifts to a point in the list which appears to be equivalent of where the scroll handle has been. But the tags below that point do not shift.
* from 00:40 focus shown by orange boxes can be anywhere, as cursor moves * from 00:45 shows effect of trying to scroll by moving mouse wheel. This shifts what appear to be random blocks of tags
These behaviours make finding a particular tag nearly impossible. Hope you can help with this.

Thanks for the description and link. I understand the problem now. I can confirm that it is a Windows bug and not on Mac OS. What Windows version are you running? It seems that there is a big delay between clicking the scroll bar and the window updating.
I can pass this on to see if any other long time Windows users have seen this
(NOT IK support, hopefully Maddy can give an official update)

A couple of us have managed to get the scrolling oddity on Window 11, but so far no reports of it on Windows 10.
The developer has been left a reference.
I'm not able to duplicate it on Linux but the scrolling itself is jerky and not as smooth as it should be on that platform.

dwg & sth: thanks for your attention.
I'm running Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, build 22631.3447 - auto-updated from Microsoft
I should add that this weird scrolling misbehaviour of the tags list has been present since at latest 2020 (so back into Windows 10 era) and that both my Windows and MoneyDance versions have constantly been the most up to date available.
dwg: what does "The developer has been left a reference" mean? Is that a formal request to fix this issue? Would the developer see the video I posted?

I mean that a pointer has been left for the developer on his Slack site to this forum post, as well as feedback that some of us have been able to reproduce the issue.

OIC. Thanks. Most grateful !

Yes, what dwg, said. Since the developer has been pointed to this thread, he can view the video as well. In addition several of the heavy/experienced users have tested this and it seems to work on Windows 10 but not Windows 11. It may have been fixed once but the Windows update broke it again? The scrolling is "not smooth on Linux but it is not doing the same oddity" so there is that as well.

This comment was split into a new private discussion: MoneyDance 2024 tags scrolling STILL broken
Tags scrolling still just as bad as ever. (02 Nov 2025: Windows 11; MD 2024.4 (5253)), Scroll bar does not work in normal Windows manner, and finding one of my 50 tags to re-use takes several minutes or more or less random searching. Typing forward is not possible: I can't remember all the tags!
WHY can this not be corrected?

Don't know why these issues are automatically closed. It is a valid bug report, and communicated to the developers. It should be listed as an open bug.
There hasn't been a preview or even an alpha release since last February.

The Tender software automatically closes a topic 3 months after the last post. Nothing TiK can do about this.

Tender sucks? Maybe better than the old ZenDesktop but I suppose I can set a reminder to post every 2.9 months?
13 Posted by dwg on 02 Nov, 2025 08:49 PM
So far Tender has been a lot better than the other alternatives tried.

I posted this years ago. But it's still not fixed, despite several references to IK. In all the software I use, this is the most recalcitrant problem I've come across, with no useful reaction from the developers.

Unfortunately this is a known bug in Moneydance, Keith!
There's an existing ticket in our ticketing system regarding this issue, so I've attached it to this discussion and the developers will be looking into it.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
