- twice unregistered, twice as a registered user, twice as a private report, twice as a public report. EVERY time I was told "something went wrong" and the problem was not submitted.

My guess is that there is something wrong with your file attachment setup. The problem I am trying to report (sans file) is:

Importing from QIF used to work fine. With, I think 2017.5 it stopped. It hasn't improved with 2017.6.
The QIF files looks (to my eyes) perfectly well-formed, but always only the very last transaction from the file is imported.

(BTW there is also something wrong with your update system. I expect any modern app to tell me when it needs to be updated, but this did not happen with 2017.5 --- I had to go to the web site and manually see that 2017.6 was now available.)

I've attached a sample QIF file (Chase Credit card) showing the issue.

name99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-19T06:07:37Z2018-02-19T06:07:37ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

I'm a fellow user.

Well there is no attachment, if you are using email I would suggest going to the forum and posting using a web browser.

Chase Credit Card is supported by Moneydance for direct-connect. Unless you have a specific reason for using QIF format, there's really little reason to do so.

Have you tried the QFX format from Chase? It closely resembles the OFX format which is preferable over QIF.

With regards to attaching a QIF file to a post, try adding a .txt file extension to the file or change the .qif extension to .txt and give it a try.

You screenshot did not post.

And what a surprise. The upload is, AGAIN, blocked...
OK, let's try uploading the screen shot as a zip.

name99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-20T03:08:33Z2018-02-20T03:08:33ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

Hi name99,

That error looks like one generated when there is an issue with setting up online banking.

Are you trying to set up online banking to your Chase Credit Card or are you trying to import a QFX file downloaded from the Chase Credit Card website?

-Kevin N. (not a member of MD support)

-Kevin N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-20T03:22:30Z2018-02-20T03:22:32ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

All I am trying to do is get things to work the way they used to six months.
Six months ago (and still) I can go to the Chase web site and download a QIF file, which, six months ago, used to work.
You told me to try downloading the QFX file instead, and that's the error I got when I double-clicked it.

I have no interest in setting up online banking or any other additional steps if I can possibly avoid it, not least because
(a) I strongly suspect that Chase wants to charge me for the privilege of online access.

(b) It's one more damn thing that's likely to go wrong and, I'm sorry, but Moneydance is rickety enough as it is, without one more silent mysterious point of failure. (Example: Recently, for reasons I don't understand, NONE of my Vanguard mutual fund prices get updated any longer. The ticker symbols remain correct; if I go to the Yahoo Finance page and enter them I get current prices, but Moneydance tells me there's an unspecified error when trying to download the prices --- both current and history. So...)

name99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-20T03:47:38Z2018-02-20T03:47:38ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

Hi name99,

I have to confess, I'm at a loss as to why the Chase QFX file is throwing that error for you. I just tried importing a QFX file from the Chase website and it worked as expected.

I will have to yield to the Moneydance support staff to help you further with that issue.

As for stock quotes, both Yahoo and Google shut down the quote servers that Moneydance's Quotes & Exchange Rates updater used.

Moneydance now uses a new service, Alphavantage. It requires the latest version of Moneydance (currently MD 2017.6 - 1656) for the needed security certificate. It also requires v.1012 of the Quotes & Exchange Rates updater. Finally, you will be prompted to acquire a free, API key from Alphavantage.

Enter the API key, set the relevant drop-downs in the Q&ER updater to Alphavantage and you should be able to once again download stock quotes.

There is also an excellent, free, third-party app that can import stock quotes. You can read up on it here if you're interested. (It's what I use)

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help with your Chase import.

Sorry I have been so curt with you --- I had no idea you were simply a kindly fellow user! (I get impatient with companies when I encounter a constant stream of problems that really look like they should have been caught and fixed months ago --- like I have been encountering here.)

Thanks for the various pieces of info you have provided. I will try, using your suggestions, to get Quotes working again; and will await an official Moneydance support specialist to explain to me what the issues are regarding QFX.

Maynard

name99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-20T16:09:25Z2018-02-20T16:09:25ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

Hi Maynard,

Your frustrations are understandable. No harm, no foul. :)

The one other piece of information that I can offer is, that as a Chase Visa credit card client, Chase does not charge a fee for direct-connect access for personal accounts. It may be different for Business accounts. You will have to authorize your accounts for desktop applications (that can be done on their website) and you may be asked to verify your identity. Chase will email you with the particulars on how to do so.

I'll be interested to hear about how your issue with the QFX import is resolved.

-Kevin N. (not a member of MD support)

-Kevin N.tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-24T04:16:34Z2018-02-24T04:16:35ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

Damn, Chase is ridiculously slick with how well they handle setting up a QFX connection. Too slick! I was expecting the same painful multi-stage nonsense I'd had to go through with previous banks and didn't realize it was a trivial "go to this page, click this checkbox, and now it works!"

Thanks for pushing me to investigate in detail. And once it has been set up, yeah, QFX works just fine.
You were also correct (and very helpful) about updating the Quotes Updater app, and getting the Alphavantage key; now that's all also working correctly again! With luck soon I'll have things back to working as well as they were about five years ago :-|

name99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/447524802018-02-24T14:42:50Z2018-02-24T14:42:50ZWTF is your problem submission system not accepting reports

Hi name99,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get things sorted.

Thank you for reporting back with your results.
