Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.

Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance (or Moneydance --> About Moneydance on a Mac) where the version and build number will be displayed.

Can you let me know which operating system you're running on your computer/s?

The reconciled balances in Moneydance are a calculated from:
Initial Balance of the Account + Cleared Deposits - Cleared Payments

To adjust the reconciled balance, you'll need to adjust one of these variables.
Since your reconciled balance changed, that must mean that one of the following happened:
1) Your account's starting balance changed
2) One or more cleared transactions were either deleted, had their amount modified, or added
3) One or more transactions were marked (or unmarked) as cleared

Any one of the above would affect the reconciled/cleared balance of an account and could have caused the difference.
Moneydance does display an extra confirmation/warning window when you try to do either 1 or 2 in the account's register.

So, to correct the problem you'd need to reverse the root cause of the change in reconciled balance. You could also get the reconciled balance back to the correct value by simply entering an adjustment, either to the account's starting balance or by entering an adjustment transaction and marking it as cleared.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have further questions or need any assistance.

My bank account is from around 2010. I am just trying this program and
this is from a quicken deluxe 2015. I have been using quicken for many
years and have rerad bad reviews for their new software. I like a
computer based program and not a cloud based.

Carl Suttontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/476598782019-09-26T20:52:15Z2019-09-26T20:52:15Zreconcil old files

I'm a fellow user.

If you have migrated data from Quicken then it is possible there is no initial balance (having one that migrates with your other data depends on the version of Quicken the file was initially created in)

If there is not initial balance then one can be entered in the account properties screen.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/476598782019-09-27T08:33:40Z2019-09-27T08:33:40Zreconcil old files

Hi Carl,
