Account Balance Report by month
I can run a month by month Income and Expenses report but to get Account Balances I have to do a report for each month, 12 in all. I'd like one report with Account Balances for the period selected by month.

Hi Frank,
I think that this is a good idea.
Until it is implemented, you can run the Transactions Filter report on a individual account, sub-totaled by Month.
It'll display all of the account's txns and unfortunately it won't be displayed side-by-side but it will give you an account's running balance over a period of time.

Frank,
Kevin's correct as to the best current work-around. I have created a feature request ticket for this issue. The ticket is attached to this discussion. By posting in this discussion your interest in the ticket has been registered. This is equivalent to voting for it, and you'll automatically be notified when we have updates.

I add my vote to the request to add time columns to account balances and net worth reports. Generally many reports will benefit from an option to add time interval columns.

Thanks, Gad
Moneype does what we want - Budget, Actual and Year to Date in one report, but does not do any fiscal year except calendar. If you are on a calendar year you can use Moneypie. Moneypie picks up the Budget entered into Moneydance, so that does not have to be entered again.
I need a fiscal year of July 1 - June 30 which Moneydance can do, but not including Year to Date within the report.
To an earlier comment posted another place, Moneydance is good about online support and collecting requests, slow about selecting some and updating Moneydance. Note the dates on our posts.

Hi there,
I've just migrated from MSM to MD and am immediatly missing a report that shows selected account balances (assets, credit, ...... etc) totaled by month.
Without such a report I'm forced to track the balances month by month in a spreadsheet.
So my vote to please. Hopefully not far now since this thread has been open since 2012.
Thanks in advance

Hi Troy
I did such a report a while ago and use it very often. I will have to check
how I can make it available.

Hi Gad
I'd be very grateful if you can assist.
I've asked the same question to MD support.
They have no interest in providing such a report unless there is demand from users.
Its definitely shame to have all the data sitting in the MD DB but being unable to adequately monitor ones liquid situation month on month without using excel.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide
Thanks
Troy

A primary use of monthly balance information over several months is to compare several bank statement balances with Moneydance balances. If Moneydance and the bank are off, problems. With a year of bank statements it would be better to have a year of monthly balances on one report, rather than 12.
If Moneydance is the choice to report to clubs it makes quarterly reports much better to have three months of balances on one report.
I continue to favor this feature and hope it is added.

Hi
I wrote an extension that does that and I am in communication with md to
get it published. In the extension you have options of start date, end date
and period such as day, week, month, year. It shows the balance for each
account (or optionally sub accounts) at the beginning of the period and a
total of all. There is an option of showing difference per period or totals.

Neat. Thanks!
Can it handle a July>June fiscal year?

I would like to see account balances by month, too.
