File lock to warn of opening MD on more than one computer

I have my MD db synched on Dropbox. I'm very careful to have it open on only one machine at a time, as I assume that portion of the db synching is not network aware. However..... Every once in awhile I still manage to open MD while another machine's copy hasn't been shut down. Couldn't you create a lock file for synched db that warns that another copy is open and perhaps provides read only access. Of course you'd need to have a procedure to delete the lock file in case things get out of sync, as with an improperly closed program.

I am not support staff, just a user.

You don't state which version/build of Moneydance you are running. See under HELP - ABOUT MONEYDANCE. e.g. I am running 2017.7(1665).
update both computer if required from https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software
Assuming you are running at least the latest released build 2017.6(1656) and set up syncing as described in this set of articles http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/syncing-and-sharing-data
you can have both computers running Moneydance at the same time. Update one and in a short time the you will see the other update as if by magic.

    Hope this helps

@derekkent23 That's terrific. I'm running 2017.6 (the latest prod download), and already synching as recommended in your link. I added a transaction on one machine, and within a minute it had populated the screen of my second computer with MD open. Thank to you for the info, and IK for making a proper network aware program!
