Fix Reminders to Be Legitimate Recurring Transactions

The Reminders feature is clunky to me. It's kind of a hybrid between an actual reminder (that notifies you when something is coming up) and a recurring event, which has regularly scheduled instances. Making me go to another part of the software to see these "reminders" prevents me from seeing my cash flow in real time based on transactions I know will be coming up. A recurring transaction should sit in my register as the next instance after the upcoming (yellow shaded) transaction.

For example. As I type, it's March 12. My rent was paid March 1 so it's in the transaction history on that date (standard black text, no background). My recurring "Rent" transaction would be in the register on April 1 (perhaps grayed out). In the first week of March I'd start planning my April payments so I'd highlight that recurring transaction and make it "Due Now" (via right-click menu, button, or whatever). That would create an upcoming transaction on April 1 (shaded yellow as the app does it now), and create the next scheduled transaction (grayed out) on May 1.

I did this with all my bills and paychecks in Quicken. It was a great way to see in one place where my money is tied up in the next month or so and allows me to answer questions like, "Can I pay an extra chunk of money this month to pay down my credit card balance? No, I can't, because I have my yearly cloud storage payment due." having to go to another part of the software is clunky.

Think of this as the tactical implementation of a strategic budget.

I totally agree. They are not 'Reminders' they are scheduled transactions.

I am not support staff, just a user.

Just a question, in the transaction reminder window have you ticked “auto-commit” and used the dropdown to increase the number of “days before scheduled”?

As you increase the number of days the up and coming transactions will appear in the register. It a pity that if you decrease the number transactions are not removed automatically. But if you are not using this feature it may help.
