Account type without running balance
I'd like to have an account type that does not have a running balance or figure into net worth for miscellaneous purchases that are not out of a normal account, but I still want to track the purchase for reporting purposes.
Example: Someone gives me a gas gift card. When I use it to buy gas, it's not coming out of a bank account, but I still want to track it for reporting so I can go back and see how much I've been spending on gas.
For now, my solution has to enter 2 transactions in a Misc Purchases account, 1 with the actual purchase details and another with the description Zero with a matching amount, but as deposit to keep the balance 0.

I'm a fellow user.
If you mark an account as inactive it will show a zero balance everywhere except in the account, you can still enter transaction in the account and categorize them as usual.

Thanks dwg, I hadn't thought of that yet. That would achieve my goal.
