Typing in categories
Don't know if this would count as a suggestion or a possible error report, but... I use the category 'Office' for office expenses. I also have a category called 'Band Expenses:Office', which although no longer used, is needed for historical purposes. If I enter a new expense, type in the description, tab to the category field and type Office, the category 'Office' is (correctly) highlighted. However, if I then tab or press enter to move to the next field, Moneydance enters the category 'Band Expenses:Office' instead. I assume this is because it's higher in the category list?
It's a small thing, but it really slows down manual entry, and feels like a bug.

Hi djlauria,
Try this...
From the Moneydance menu bar, go to Tools > Categories
Locate and highlight the 'Band Expenses' instance of 'Office'.
Click the 'Edit' button at the bottom of the window.
In the resulting from, check-mark the 'Inactive' check-box. Click OK
Doing so should remove Band Expenses:Office from most drop-downs while retaining the categories' transactions for historical purposes.

Thanks, Kevin, your solution works for this particular circumstance. However, if both categories are still needed, this won't help. I'm hoping that someone from MD will acknowledge this as at least unacceptable behavior, if not a bug.
Thanks again.
