Mapping multiple accounts using Direct Connect (Proposed Update to Direct Connect Article)
Hi,
The Direct Connect Knowledge Base article lacks detail for a very important step used in mapping accounts correctly (for individuals with more than one account at the same Financial Institution).
https://infinitekind.tenderapp.com/kb/online-banking-and-bill-pay/d...
After the words:
Select "Next" then specify the account you'd like to download the data into. You'll then be prompted for your ID and Password.
(There is an inserted graphic of the ID/PWD Screen)
The next step is missing, the "Online Banking Signup" Screen, where the user has to then map one of the available accounts listed by the bank to the same account selected in the sidebar (and prior to entering your login info).
The missing screen is attached below. The RED ARROW indicates the step at which many users on this forum are confused about and/or miss.
IF the correct account presented by the OFX server at the Financial Institution is not selected at this point, the account will map to the first on the list. In the case shown below, I had selected Checking from the sidebar and also prior to login, yet the first account displayed by my bank is "Money Market...". My bank clearly indicates which accounts are which (along with redacted account number), however, I understand that some banks only provide account numbers at this stage. It would be very easy to just assume that you've already made your selection for the correct account and skip by this screen quickly. Additionally, there may be a delay for this information to show up, which can also make it easier to miss.
I have seen this mapping error reported numerous times on this forum. Additional instructions and a new screenshot could be added to assist the new Moneydance Customer in avoiding this often repeated mistake .
Regards,
Tony

PS Wording Update suggested to the "Online Banking Signup" Screen (above)
Please choose the account that you wish to use.
NOTE: If you have MORE than one account, you may have to click the dropdown selector to choose the correct account (below).

A recent example of the problem as it persists:

Yes, TonyRI, this would be very helpful. An alternative to this would be that when user clicks on next, the pull-down menu would be on the next screen, instead of skipping by this important item. IMHO the problem is really that the programmers have one screen doing double duty. Thanks for helping.
