System upgrades

Good morning,
I've just upgraded to version 2020 (1914). However, I have no idea what this change does as - in the little table that comes up - where it says something like "This new release cob=vers the following", there is nothing shown. I have raised this before but didn't get an answer and it's probably an indication of my trust in you (or my stupidity) that I haven't chased it up before.

It would be really useful if we mere users were told what the new releases actually DO rather than wait - or try - to see if there's any noticeable change.

I realise that there will be new releases that are necessary for reasons internal to the system and which therefore are transparent to the users (I was in system development, on mainframes, for over 30 years) but if it just gave basic details, it would be better than none.

Cheers - and thanks for reading

    I'm a fellow user.

The two major changes I see in Moneydance 2020 should not impact most users.

There is a change in the Java distribution that is being used, so this should not be significant to users in general.

The other change is creation of a Windows 32 bit build, which has been made possible by changing Java.

These two changes can, in my view, make a change in version number appropriate.

The other changes I see are more evolutionary.

    Thanks, Derek (we’ve spoken before)

I thought it might be something of that nature but it does beg the question “why do they say that the new release addresses whatever………..and then show nothing? I’d be happier if they just said “None of your bloody business!”

    Cheers

    Keep well

    Just to add….

There has been a whole long list of changes to the beta versions of the program since the current release version. Checkout all the changes here:-

    Thanks, Jeff

The question remains: why do they tell us the release “addresses the following issues” (you’ll realise that I’m paraphrasing here) And then leave the rest of the notice blank?

    Thanks, anyway

    Hi Mike

On Windows 10 when I opened Moneydance yesterday the long upgrade message as re-posted by dwg appeared automatically.
Today a short upgrade message appeared see attached.
So, for me on Windows 10 the upgrade message read correctly.
What is your computer operating system?

    Hi Mike

I wonder if other Mac users have the same issue.

The message was the same on all 3 operating systems.

Longer message on 2020 (1913), one line message with 2020 (1914).

If you skip/missed 1913, you only see the one liner when updating to 1914 & you would probably think why bother!

    Hello All,

I noticed in the new release 1913 (and 1914) that whenever I select an Investment account, the console log is flooded with hundreds of buy/sell/position, etc. lines of data. It ends with a "calculated portfolio cost basis in 0.xxx seconds".
Just curious if this is new or if I have a problem. Does it every time, so I guess I don't see the point.

    Thanks

    Dan

Sorry, Dan - I’m just a user…………looks like you got too much info, whilst I didn’t get enough (though, having said that, the accounting sides no problem at all)
    Cheers

    Hi Dan

    I get the same thing.
Possible Sean was working on this area of the program and needed the data.
