Now what would be really cool and time saving would be a similar function when the mouse pointer hovers over the Splits on a Transaction register line item. So on a transaction that has say - 9 splits - hovering over - 9 splits - would show a pop up that list the actual catagory and amount being posted.

Bagsytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-02T19:24:36Z2020-10-02T19:24:36ZSplit Category Details

+1

RJrontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-02T19:35:50Z2020-10-02T19:35:50ZSplit Category Details

+1k!

tonyttag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-03T21:17:53Z2020-10-03T21:17:53ZSplit Category Details

On a Mac, if you hold down the alt/option key and hover on a txn, then it does exactly this? Thank you both. However the most splits it can show is 19 and one of my monthly transactions has 32, but that's just one amongst many so no big deal, still it's a step in the right direction.
I searched KB for this but came up with nothing so how do you guys know about it?

Bagsytag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-04T08:28:09Z2020-10-04T08:28:09ZSplit Category Details

I follow the forums, new versions of the software, and also do some Beta testing. I keep my own notes on Moneydance usage.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-04T08:30:03Z2020-10-04T08:30:03ZSplit Category Details

same here. Had no idea about this feature.

Another problem has been with dual screen/monitor. If you have 2 x screens
- try this out.. Tools->Reports. Select any report ( eg Income & Expenses ). Click on SELECT
to make a selection of accounts. The screen suddenly pans beyond your
screen ? Perhaps this happens also with single monitor - i have not tried.
No matter what you do - you cannot limit it to one screen. There are
numerous others...

Displaying nested accounts with their full path is another. Report tables
cannot accomodate them. No way to switch the path-view off.

Some requests for features have not been looked at for years. Search in a/c
names, search in reminders etc.

Are there hidden options for all these also ?

RJrontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-04T11:09:31Z2020-10-04T11:09:31ZSplit Category Details

Years of experience and playing around.

Regarding search in reminders…..

Stuart’s being too modest here, he contributed a great python script which allows you to save all the details of your reminders to a csv file

I’ll let him provide the latest vers, I have v3 & although I have only used it occasionally it has helped me sort out my auto commit dates.

Thanks for all your python scripts Stuart

jeff_ltag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-04T11:56:54Z2020-10-04T11:56:54ZSplit Category Details

Hi Jeff, Stuart,

I guess I missed that message somehow. I've just subscribed to these
messages recently. Would appreciate if you could kindly resend.

I have myself been using moneydance since 2012 or thereabouts and I am very
keen to see this get to the top of the list in personal finance software.
And on that note - its good to see the support from fellow users. Thanks in
advance once again - especially Stuart - Id be very keen to see more of
these. I cant help say - I love the software.. but there is a lot more to
be done

Please do resend that email/script. Thanks again.

RJrontag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-10-04T12:20:32Z2020-10-04T12:20:32ZSplit Category Details

Reminders extract still at version 3 - tho' I have plans... Much appreciated
Run Moneydance
Menu>Window>Show Moneybot Console
Click Open Script
Choose the script you saved
Click RUN
If on a Mac and you get two silly messages that say something like ““jffi14245415351618718681.dylib” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.” - just click Bin or Cancel - they are irrelevant and nothing to do with the script

The script should run

Good luck!!

Stuart Beesley (Mr Toolbox)tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/486874082020-11-07T17:26:25Z2020-11-07T17:26:25ZSplit Category Details

Hi Stuart
Thanks for swift response, and with a little fiddling, success first time. MANY thanks! Did I read somewhere here you were working on a report generator? If so, any progress / news? Hope so.
