Changing font size should change space between lines
I just wanted to make a quick suggestion. I recently updated to v2021 (2006) and noticed the spacing between lines is larger than it was before - not as much data fits within the MD window anymore. So, for the first time, I went into options and changed the font size so I could fit more data in the window. The font size can be changed dramatically, which I certainly appreciate. However, the line spacing remains the same and no additional data fits within the MD window. I can make the font size so small I can't even read it. But the amount of space each line takes up remains the same - there is just more white space in-between the lines. This kind of makes being able to change to smaller font sizes worthless.
So my suggestion is to implement corresponding line spacing with font size changes.

I’ve just been comparing v2021 (2007) with 2019.3 (1880) & certainly the weight of the fonts generally & the spacing of items particularly in the Summary Bar was much easier on the eye then than now IMO.
I guess we’re all rather conservative when it comes to changes in our favourite Personal Finance software.

Oh if you want conservative I prefer the font and spacing in Moneydance 2012 :)

ah that's because the software had a more Mac like feel to it then....
bet you also preferred the program Icon also.

I'm primarily a Windows user. The fonts I found to be more readable in that version.

apart from the spacing of line items in the Summary - are you all also
noticing that the summary page no longer fits in a standard screen ?
I use a FONT +2 size for better readability. And it was fine in the earlier
versions.. but now.. I need to scroll to the right to see part of the
screen. Even when I view this on a 27 inch monitor - there is a small
portion that goes off to the right ! Same for font +1.
However, when I select the default font size - it sits within the screen.
But with the font being so small - and the unnecessary blank spaces now
being used.. it is a frustration.
FYI:
-- I have my reminders listed in the right column - and that still uses the
old density ( not much wasted space between lines ) which is good.
-- It is the left and central columns that are taking up space between the
lines.
-- it also looks like the central and right side columns are also using up
more screen width - or unable to adjust themselves to fit within the screen.

I'm a fellow user.
What I have noted is that the length of the reminder description is driving the width of the columns. Have a long description and it will make the text in both columns wider rather than truncating it at a reasonable length.

actually not - I feel.
Looking at the screen even as I type this email, the centre column is
definitely also taking more space than earlier.
It is hard to explain this - so, I've attached a screenshot while removing
private data and marked each column as A, B and C. With this in mind:
*COLUMN A:*
Density between lines needs to be reduced in this new version. FYI density
in REMINDERS ( COLUMN C is slightly better - but even that should be
reduced further )
*COLUMN B:*
As you can see - there is a huge amount of empty space taken there. Sure, I
have sub-accounts with large names ( which are not seen as the groups are
collapsed ) but some names exceed the space available ). If names are
large, they must be truncated for display.
*COLUMN C:*
As you can see again - there are empty spaces for some fields. But they
should be truncated to display within the monitor space and with visibility
of the values indicated on the right of the reminders ( which now can only
be seen if scrolled to the right ).
The point is - this SUMMARY view ( or shall we call it the DASHBOARD VIEW )
is key in that it needs to be contained within the monitor/screen view
without having to scroll to the right.
This screenshot attached also gives me a chance to add a few suggestions
I've been saying for years now - namely:
- Ref. Column A. It is good to have this column A - but the inability to
group into sub-levels is a huge negative. Instead, look at column B and how
I have managed to group accounts and sub-accounts and have the ability to
collapse and expand them ( The '>' indicates they are collapsed ). I have
even suggested that a simpler solution was to just replace column A with
column B and to leave that as a static side-bar instead.
- Ref. Column A ( preferably as above ). Would it not be easy to have a
search field for all your accounts - in addition to the dropdown at the top
left ?
- Ref. Column C. As you can see, I have all my bills, credit card payments,
incoming interest payments etc are all added to the reminders. I believe
the whole purpose is to have some sort of reminder and automation. But once
you do this - there is no way to search through the reminders ? A search
for reminders would also be useful ?
- With regards to entry of items on reminders, you should make it easier to
change the default account. Easier meaning.. a search and find.. instead of
mouse-click and going thru a list.

Thanks to @roneydxb - your comment and explanation exactly mirrors my own frustrations with the new update. So much more mousework to achieve what we used to be able to view easily. At the bottom of the summary side bar your are able to increase or decrease the width of this column. To have a similar facility to also customise the width of left and right columns would be better. I just find it puzzling why there are such huge white spaces (some with .......) when all data can easily fit on the screen in the standard font size. If you wished to (or were able to increase the font size) and this took your page size so that it was too large for the screen, I can understand why the scroll bar at the bottom .
Hope Infinitekind can do update to fix this soon.

@christine.peppe - I'm glad you found my notes useful and share my thoughts. There are some others which I have not yet made known ( I will list one example at the end ).. but I am optimistic that the developers have taken note and intent on some changes - although I am yet to hear of any of this. I can almost guarantee that everyone ( especially hardcore users and those who are swift on the keyboard ) will be very keen for most of these changes.
One other example:
On a dual monitor setup, go to Tools -> Graphs&Reports - > Income & Expenses Detailed. Then click the SELECT button for the Source accounts. See what happens - the screen pans across the second monitor and beyond sight.

+1 for this, I also appreciate how dramatically I can change the font size but the spacing between lines doesn't reduce if I use a smaller font. In my case at least, I now have less information on screen, no matter what font size I pick. It would be great if the spacing reduces with the font, so I can have as much information on screen at once as I used to have with the older version at least.

+1 from me

+1 from me also (Windows 10 user). The display does not appear to scale well when the font size is increased.
And the font size definitely needed to be increased in order for my aging eyes to read the text on large 2K screen. Hate to think what this is going to look like when I upgrade to 4K.
Please address. Big monitors make this a big deal. At least on Windows.
