One of the things I liked about MSMoney and Quicken investments is the MSMoney Portfolio Manager overview page. ON it, I could see all the investment accounts with number of share, purchase price (average), today's price, sales price changes (daily) and cost change. I'd really like to see something similar in Moneydance.

I'd like to second Len's comment. This would be a great feature to add.

Thanks for your suggestion. There's a request for this feature in our issue tracker right now, which you can view at http://moneydance.com/trac/ticket/450. If you'd like to see this prioritized, you can create a trac account and vote for this issue. The more votes your request gets, the faster we'll get to it.

I too am used to the portfolio information shown in MS Money. I would like to see a tracking function in Moneydance.
Please excuse my ignorance but when I view the help files they say that you can change the views on investments but I cant find how you do this ! All I see is the security name; the current price and the number of shares how can I see an overview of total value ie number of shares x value and history can someone help.

    Hi Phil

I believe the help doc is refering to the three modes with which you ca interact with an investment account. There are "Portfolio View", "Register" and "Security Detail". These are accesed by clicking on the three green buttons in the top middle of the screen when looking at an investment account.

parts of the wanted functionality might be found in a third party extension called portfolio allocation
    http://code.google.com/p/moneydance-portfolioallocation/

a more complete list of extension:

Porfolio allocation is a good step in this direction. However, it takes a bit of effort to get working in Power PC OS X (in 10.4. with APPLE's developer release JSE6). I posted a brief note on the extension's Google code page doing it.

I'd like to see this too, along with a little more analysis of performance. I'm used to the MS Money portfolio view which was customisable and had many different columns available. I particularly liked to be able to see the amount of unrealised gain/loss (helps with Capital Gains tax planning) as well as the annualised % return (to help keep track of how the investment and/or investment account is performing).
