Online Downloads not working: information line suggestion (discover/schwab/usaa, and others)
Given the changes that have occurred, and will probably continue to occur with direct connect, I'd like to suggest what I think would probably be an easy change.... when one of these banks break direct connect, rather than saying nothing (i.e. no "zero transactions downloaded") a line that says instead - something like "bank connection was not made".
I think that would eliminate a lot of confusion... and maybe add "try again later" as sometimes it's just a temporary glitch.

That could be tougher than what you think. Software can only react to what come back to it, so it depends on what sort of message comes back. It may get nothing or it may get something that makes it look OK but no data which makes you think there are no transactions to download or it may be something in between. There is just no telling, and from seeing some of the messages over the years it is not consisitent.

Agreed, which is why I said "probably".... I've encountered the same issues in my I/T years - the question is ... is there a difference between "zero downloads" and "not connecting" - the fact that there is ALREADY a difference (i.e. zero downloads vs nothing posted at all) suggests a methodology to put SOMETHING there versus nothing. [even if it is "i don't know what happened, I have nothing to say"]
But, your point is well taken.

In most case failure will come back with contentType NOT
That should catch %99 of the cases I've seen
Another word, per spec, valid response should have
