I would like to see the security name shown on the detailed income and expenses report for dividends. The only way I can currently find to do this is to type it into the description field when I enter the dividend transaction . but as I have already selected the security this should not be necessary.

    I'm a fellow user.

Income and expense reports pick up the data from the category accounts, yes categories are types of accounts.

There is no provision in Category accounts for the security field that is contained in Investment accounts, it really is not relevant to the account.

As the data is not present it cannot be included in the report.

Category accounts effectively have the same fields in them as bank accounts, so any reporting is limited to this data.

    Hi, understood.

Then another way to do this, since I need to report dividends by security, would be the Investment Transaction Report, as this does capture the security field, but then I would need to be able to filter for dividends only.
If I am correct in this, and providing there is not some other way, could I propose it as a future enhancement to the Investment Transaction report?
    thanks

I have an extract investment data to csv extension (extract_data) available from my site. You can then easily filter in excel. Mike Bray also has a report writer tool in beta/preview where you can also filter and extract.
