Account data entry page resizing
Hello. Refer the data entry screen for each account. I notice a change in the latest updates.
The spacing used by each column while resizing the moneydance screen - forces some columns to become obscure/unusable. Please see screenshot attached.
- The PAYMENT, DEPOSIT & BALANCE columns remains pretty constant in width. Almost always, it is the DESCRIPTION column that gets squished into nothingness. The CHECK# and C columns usually hold a much higher width/space that is not necessary.
- I sure did resize the colums for best use -- but then, the resize applies only to that specific account. It does not get applied to any other account - meaning, I need to resize every single account I have. Perhaps a resize can be applied to all similar BANK or CREDIT CARD or ASSET or LIABILITY account screens ?
- Better still, perhaps the columns C, PAYMENT, DEPOSIT and BALANCE should be set relative to the font and say max 12 or 13 characters including the decimal point and commas. Likewise DATE and CHECK# column adjusted for just the needed width - and the remaining equally distributed between DESCRIPTION and CATEGORY -- UNLESS changed by the user and then applied on all similar accounts.

II have to say I like the freedmen of being able to set the column width for each account. You only need to do it one for a new account. I would hate to be forced to find one width setting that would work will all accounts. Perhaps a tick box in preference so width can be set globally from active account or individually for each account .

My Toolbox extension has an option to reset all the column width data. Once you do this, the first account you set column widths on will be the default for all other accounts too..

@derekkent23 - Yes, I agree it is good to have the freedom to set for each account. However, it is most likely that you will be using the same setup for any similar account set. The issue occurs when you begin to resize moneydance on your monitor - either move it from left to right ( or viceversa ) on your screen - or to shrink/expand moneydance to fit alongside other software. My issue mostly occurs when I balance statements or get reports to compare with other data and I have to make the change all over again.
But yes - i agree a switch of sort would perhaps be an added advantage for some scenarios.
