Backup progress bar
During the Backup process, the Moneydance user interface doesn't show anything happening. (A user doesn't see that the backup is underway until it's finished.) It would be nice if the interface showed a progress bar, or spinning wheel, or anything that shows the backup is in process, so the user should wait until it's complete before doing something else in the program.

Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the lack of response in this thread.
Generally, Moneydance creates automatic backup files. A backup file will be created each time you close your file until the set number exist, then each file will be updated in turn. You should be able to see a "progress bar" when you choose to close Moneydance.
Also, if these files are stored in the default location, they're accessible from Moneydance via Help --> Show Backup Folder, so you can verify that this is working correctly.
If you wish to amend the backup file settings, you can choose Moneydance --> Preferences, then select the 'Backups' tab, as outlined in this article of the Knowledge Base.
From this window, you can amend the backup location, and choose the maximum number of backups to be stored.
You could amend the backup location, so the automatic backup files are sent to a location of your choice. For example, you could choose an external drive, or a shared folder location like Dropbox. This will ensure your data is accessible from another system, even if you were to encounter complete computer failure.

Thanks for your reply. Apparently I didn't explain the issue in great enough detail. The situation I'm describing is specifically when the user manually selects Export Backup. While Moneydance performs that backup, there is no progress bar. (I do see a progress bar during the automatic backup when closing a file, but there's no such progress bar during the manual Export Backup.)

I agree. The std backup on exit does provide a progress bar. However file/export backup does not. It would be useful!
