Entering investment Buy and Sell transactions: Moneydance should not overwrite number of shares or amount

I frequently find myself entering the amount 2 or 3 times when I record buy or sell transactions in the investment register, because Moneydance takes it upon itself to alter figures I have just entered when I go on to enter some other figure.

Amount should never be overwritten or computed, along with number of shares it is a critical number that can only come from the trading confirmation.

Fee can also only come from the trading confirmation, but it's a less important number, and after the other two in Moneydances ordering of the fields, so it makes no sense for Moneydance to go back and alter amount when I type in a fee.

I never enter price, I always let it be computed. It is the least important number and the most difficult to enter manually. (It has lots of digits and entering it manually won't even necessarily allow the correct result for other columns to be computed, due to issues with precision etc.)

I would like price to be the only thing that ever adjusts as a result of data entry in other fields. (One exception which wouldn't affect me, it would be acceptable to compute/change fee if price is entered. As fee is the last number in Moneydances sequence it does make sense for it to be provisionally calculated from earlier numbers. This would be useful for people who do want to enter prices.)

You could argue that I should eliminate one of my unwanted overwrites by remembering to enter the amount before fees instead of the amount my balance is to change by, but that figure is less prominent on trading confirmations, and harder to identify quickly, because it is higher than the final figure I want on a sell transaction and lower on a buy. The overall amount net of fees is always immediately clear, regardless of transaction type, because it appears on the bottom line. Also, how does it make sense to have to enter a figure that is different to the final one that one wants to see in that box?
