I have one user interface question. In the Reconcile Account window, would it be possible to add an option to make clicking on a line just highlight it (instead of marking it Cleared)? Perhaps then either double clicking the row or clicking in the C column could then mark the entry as cleared or uncleared. I am aware that I can move between entries using the arrow keys and clear/unclear with the return key, but I'm too used to mousing around so I end up clicking on entries and accidentally marking them cleared. I'm using macOS Big Sur. Thanks.

rainbowsendstudiotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493175562021-08-01T21:31:09Z2021-08-01T21:31:09ZReconcile - click to highlight

Hello,

Thanks for your suggestion. Could you clarify the purpose of highlighting every transaction first in this window would be instead of just clearing it? While I'm sure we could implement what you describe, my guess is that we'd have many more people asking why they now have to double-click every entry in the reconciliation window, doubling the number of clicks they need to make. I imagine most people wouldn't want 50 clicks to become 100, for example, unless there was a clear advantage to making that change.

I agree that most people are probably fine with the default behavior. I just find myself clicking on a row to highlight a transaction so I can focus on the name & amount when I am searching for the corresponding entry in my bank statement and then if I can't find it right away I sometimes forget to uncheck it. It's like in a file system browser where you can set an option to either click to open a folder or click to highlight it. Unless it is an easy tweak to add this feature as an option then I can just learn to correct my bad habit.

rainbowsendstudiotag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/493175562021-08-03T21:56:56Z2021-08-03T21:56:56ZReconcile - click to highlight

I use a process the reverse of that. I work through my bank statement in order, only clicking in MD when I find each bank statement transaction. If I can't find one in MD (or it doesn't exist) then I highlight the bank statement row. Hence, I never need to click in MD until I am clearing a transaction.
