I like Moneydance, in general, but the budgeting tool needs work. Here are my biggest complaints:

1. It's painfully slow. Slow to load and slow to move from month to month
2. You cannot copy a previous period to a month if that month has passed. So, if you happen to miss updating this, you have to manually enter all the budget items, line-by-painfully-slow-line
3. When you do copy the previous period, the results don't appear until you've scrolled to that column.

    just a user,

set up your budget using the Mixed Interval Old Style Budget period and all those issues are resolved. You will find a different method to edit your budget that works much better than the default new style.

Thanks for the information. I took a look at that older version and I don't think that will be a solution for me. I just wish the current version worked a little better. :)

    Just a user,

Lots of issues with the default new style. The more transactions you have in your database the slower it opens and functions. Even the MD developer prefers the old style. I'm with you, MD needs to spend some time to resolve the multitude of issues with the budget. I just use the best of the features and employ extra steps to get the result I need. This is not a new issue, it's been with us for several years.
