Add an option to filter current reminders

When (Transaction) Reminders are shown all my reminders are shown. It would be useful if an option could be added to allow the user to select:

a) only current reminders where the Last Date is blank or later than today
or
b) all Reminders, as it does today.

I have many 'old' reminders where the Last Date has gone by to keep track of previous payments made via Reminders so this option would let MD function as it does today or filter the list of Reminders to only those which are currently active.

Many thanks

Chris

    Hi Chris,

Does the Reminders Summary Page widget not show current Reminders?
The drop-down on the widget provides 2 weeks, One month or This month options.
The 'Upcoming' link provides 6 months.
There's also the 'Future Reminders' extension that provides a user-defined date range.

    Hi Kevin

Not sure what you are referring to below.

I am meaning the Reminders section found under Tools / Reminders where I can add/edit/remove Reminders. There is nothing on that page which resembles your details below.

    Thanks

He’s referring to Menu/Manage Extensions/install: List Future Reminders. Then menu/extensions/List Future Reminders.

Thanks for the explanation. I am afraid this is NOT where I want to see the new option. I want it to be on the screen used for maintaining Reminders (from Tools/ Reminders) to make the list of Reminders shown there easier to use.

    Thanks

    Hi Chris,

The Reminders widget resides right on the Summary Page.
(Moneydance Menu bar > File > Preferences > Summary Page tab > here you can add the widget)

    See screenshot

Thanks, I already have this widget in use BUT as I responded to Stuart it is not what I am asking for. I would like to be able to restrict, via a selectable option, only LIVE Reminders when I am maintaining them via Tools/Reminders.

The attached screenshot shows some of my current list of Reminders and it is not easy to tell from this list which is the active Reminder when one of them needs changing.

    Thanks for your help.

Could you add a *** to historical reminders to differentiate?

    Yes I could but..

There is already an option to add a ‘Last Date’ to the reminder, therefore a simple option to select current Reminders based on this date being blank or later than the current date doesn’t seem too much to ask for.

I think this is a great idea and I would like to see it expanded to just more than whether the reminder is live or not.

In particular, I'd like to be able to filter on category. This would help me to find problems such as having more than one reminder set up for a given category in error.

It might also be useful to be able to filter on the reminder amount (e.g. greater than $100).

    Hi

In have just updated to MD 2022.3 (4077) and this requested feature doesn't yet seem to have made it into MD. Is there any idea when this might actually be available?

    Many thanks

    I'm a fellow user.

I think there is some misunderstanding about the suggestions in the ticketing system.

Adding an item to it only means that the suggestion has been added to this system, it does not mean that the suggestion has been considered, accepted for inclusion in Moneydance, scheduled or anything else.

This is something that has been requested for quite a long time.

Meanwhile, there is an alternative extension developed by Stu ( which has
just become available ) and I now use.

Yes it’s list future reminders and only 2 clicks to launch, the same as 2 clicks when clicking tools/reminders, but Chris said it’s not what he wants.

I appreciate its still only a 'suggestion' but after more than 7 months it would be nice to know if ANY progress towards the MD application is being made. I think Stuart's enhancement is good but as he notes, and we have discussed before, this is not what I am asking for,

    Stu,
The difference is - earlier on, your FUTURE REMINDERS extension did not have the option to search. The latest version does have this. However, it only lists 'future' reminders.

Perhaps you would like to add filters to it - with an option to list past/expired reminders - if there is demand for it. I certainly would find it useful.
