Show unrecorded future transactions from Transaction Reminders
I would like to suggest we have a TOGGLE on/of switch for each account - that will insert future transactions for 30/60/90/180 days - based on entries in transaction reminders - that are not yet recorded. These need to be highlighted in a new colour such that it is easy identifiable.
WHY DO I NEED THIS:
This helps give a visual of the credits and debits expected in the future into the account and to prepare accordingly
EXAMPLE:
- Lets say my current balance is $1500
- I have a credit card bill of $2000 coming up in two weeks time.
This should get me worried already.
- However, I also have a interest credit of $2500 expected in 2 days -
which is recorded in my transaction reminder. However, this is not
visible in the account ledger for another 2 days.
- By switching the toggle for 30 or 60 or 90 days, these transactions
and the balances would show up instantly - avoiding the need to scram.
- Switching this toggle on should enable this only for this specific account.
SAMPLE DESIGN:
- Put a toggle on/off switch on the top ( eg. PALE RED COLOUR SWITCH )
- When switched on - the option to select 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 days shows up. By clicking on one of these values (30/60/90/180), the appropriate unrecorded future transactions from the transaction reminders gets TEMPORARILY inserted with the appropriate values and balances adjusted - with these rows highlighted in PALE RED.
- Exiting the account will switch the toggle off automatically.
- Note - Pale Yellow is already used by moneydance for future transactions permanently recorded into the account. You cannot use this same colour.

just a user,
You need to become familiar with the Money Foresight feature. It does that type of forecasting based upon your current balances and future reminders. It's now under the tools tab, you can set up up for any specific account. Or like I do, I set it up on my checking where I pay those accounts so it see's all the future reminder amounts and deposits to give me a global view for the future balance of my checking account. I usually just have it set up to look 12 months in the future. Gives you a nice chart and a list of the transactions and reminders that are reflected on the chart.

Thanks mhoggie. However, I am still running Moneydance 2021.1 (3069) dated 20-May-2021 - which I believe is still the last stable release. I see that Money Foresight has been intergrated into the beta 2021.2(3091) version dated 09-AUG-2021 and onwards with updates thereafter. Would be comforting to know version you/users are using for prime financial data and that it is a good-upgrade. I am concerned about data loss/corruption to my 10+ year old data.
In the version I use, I see it is available as an install - I assume it is the same ? I will install now to test.
However, I assume this does not require a seperate page to go to. I feel this will (perhaps also) be most useful in the account ledger itself.

The current latest preview is fine and stable. It’s the same as your version with some fixes and foresight added.

Thanks for the update Stuart. This is good to know. I will take a leap of faith based on this.

Installed foresight and paid/activated on 2021.1-3069
Removed foresight
Upgraded Moneydance to 2021.2-3095
I notice that Foresight is there - but still showing as an extension ( Extension->Manage Extensions ). I assume this is right.
Ref. Foresight. tThe need to go through a seperate menu, select accounts etc is available - although I still feel it would be far more intuitive and user friendly if (also) available directly in each account as I suggested. Please study and consider - thanks.

Hi Roney,
To avoid confusion (or maybe create some)... there is "Money Foresight" and there is "Foresight".
Money Foresight is an extension that has been around as a separate install since 2008 and is available to purchase separately. But I'm passing the torch and the extension itself onto the Moneydance team and will be retiring Money Foresight once Foresight is officially released.
There shouldn't be any problem with having them both installed at the same time, but they are basically identical and therefore redundant. I would stick with Foresight since this is going to be developed and supported going forward.
Regards,
Kevin
there is the integrated version of it that is just called "Foresight" and is available in the preview release. Once it becomes an official release then "Money Foresight" will become obsolete and I'll stop making it available as a separate purchase.

...and let's not forget Forecaster. : )

Hi Kevin,
Many thanks for your swift response. Before I forget, very many thanks for
the refund on the purchase. Didnt expect that.
I am a bit confused though. Money Foresight is being passed on.. but wont
be developed further.
Foresight as a stand alone is the way forward and will be developed. Did i
get this right ?
From this perspective:
- can you send me a url for the preview that I can download and install ?
- any possible list of features being developed ?
- from my original post, wouldnt you agree that it will be very useful to
have this foresight in each account ledger itself ?
- based on current setup, perhaps you could look at also option to type a
few letters to drill down to the account name. Different people call this
differently.. but a search bar.. with ability to type a few letters and
get to the item/account without the need to scroll back and forth through
countless accounts ( based on accounts and sub accounts and cards and
whatever else ). That would be useful.
I certainly am keen to these options come to fruition.. certainly a good
crystal ball to have...

Hi Kevin S / Support / all:
Refer Money Foresight - Forecast - Transactions
In the interim, would it be possible to group the transaction list - so they are visible seperate for each selected account ? At the moment, but adding more than one account - this mixes up all the transaction/balances and not sure how it helps to keep track.

Hi Roney,
You're welcome.
You are correct that Money Foresight won't be developed any further. It's still available for download but once Foresight is officially released then I'll be shutting up shop completely.
Let's hope that the Moneydance team pick up on your suggestions.
Regards,
Kevin
