2022-0108 9:57am U.S. CST.....

Using MD 2021.1 (3069) on Apple MacBook-Pro OS=Monterey 12.1........
THE REFERENCE COLUMN is missing on the "Income & Expense-Detailed Reports".

In doing a report of EXPENSES, I selected the Report - Income & Expenses-Details for say Expenses for Month.
The REPORT does NOT show a COLUMN FOR REFERENCE# to trace the transaction to the original source document (Check#, etc) for the transaction?
Please add the REFERENCE COLUMN to all DETAILED REPORTS,

OR

have an OPTION to add the REFERENCE COLUMN in PREFERENCES, when selecting & generating DETAILED REPORTS?

When I see "DETAILED" I expect to see ALL DETAILS-including the REFERENCE COLUMN????
Normal accounting for detailed reports would show the reference# from where the transaction was generated.
Without it you are missing half of the REPORT INFO for the transaction-to be able to trace to original entry quickly?

Will this be in a NEW UPGRADE VERSION? Which one?

Thanks, rm2426

Double clicking the item line in question in a Detailed Report drills down instantly to the line in the register for that item.

This is a brilliant feature of MD, does this not give you what you want?

Thank you Jeff, I did not know that & it IS good to know, If I am at the computer looking at one or two transactions. I do not have the time to open each transaction to see the reference, check#, etc for all the transactions, to see if an entry was to the correct category.....

My discussion was for the VIEWED\PRINTED format of the DETAILED REPORT...
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The "REFERENCE" column should be included on all Detailed Reports in order to see/review where the transactions originated & to see if the transaction CORRECTLY BELONGS TO THAT SPECIFIC CATEGORY of Income or Expense or ACCOUNT BALANCE. It would then be easy to review all transactions and trace questionable or incorrect transactions and change the transaction to the correct category, if necessary.

Would be nice to have a CPA or knowledgeable accountant on staff at MD, since this is a real good accounting program, that just needs to be tweaked in a lot of ACCOUNTING AREAS, to be a REALLY GOOD ACCOUNTING PROGRAM

I was a Quicken user until I switched to an Apple Computer. I have tried to adapt to MD functions, etc. Quicken's Transaction entries, REPORTS, Account Reconciliations, Balance Sheet Equity, assign categories to Income Tax Forms/Schedules, and Year-end closings, were well thought out.
I believe Quicken and Outlook both had CPAs on staff to review & draft the ACCOUNTING functions.

Anyway I have tried to adapt to MD offerings. Unfortunately Infinite Kind-MD's upgrade attention seems to be on Investments and On-Line Banking and not improve the BASIC ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS, TRANSACTION ENTRIES, FINANCIAL REPORTING , ACCOUNT RECONCILIATIONS, tying income & expense categories to U.S.-IRS INCOME TAX FORMS/SCHEDULES line numbers, FORMATTING OF REPORTS, ETC for easier use by the subscriber.

    Thanks-RM2426

No, because I need a “Printed Report” or even a “viewed
pdf file” showing reference column for my records’
documentation & for easy retrieval of underlying payments &
    documents from my files.
    Thanks for suggestion.
