Report warning if child categories or assets changed since last report

I have a canned report to show snapshots of my investment portfolio. What I've noticed is if I get a new security since the last time I ran the report it doesn't show up in the report.

If I edit the report I can see that the new asset shows up under the account but it's not checked; this initially makes sense since it was not there since the last time I ran the report.
However, I need to report to either be dynamic (i.e. if I check the account itself I inherently/automatically want all child assets in to appear (even new ones))... or it would be nice to have a warning pop-up if there was a known change (e.g. new assets added to the account) since the last time I ran the report. Quicken I think did the latter.

Maybe add some logic to keep track of the last time the report was run so that the "next" time it's run it looks for any child or asset changes since the last report and can then at a min. show an alert?

Thanks
