Don't disappear the balance when I double-click a transaction
My intent is to copy the balance in a register (asset or bank). But if I double-click the latest transaction, its balance disappears.

For explanation you are placing the transaction into edit mode and the balance is not editable, nor is it a "number" as such, it is a calculated value, so a copy of it would be the instructions used to derive the figure.

I assume this is for a split transaction, as "regular transaction" balances don't "disappear" for me.
If so, the split balance is a summation, you have to go into the split transaction to get the individual values, the sum is not available (to copy).

dwg: OK, the modify suggestion: Provide an easy way to copy an account's current balance.
dtd: Not a split.
Thanks to both.

Ah I see, the account's current balance, not the transaction value. Yes, that disappears as it is a calculation, just as a split transaction balance is greyed out.
So yes, the modify suggestion is one that might be used by some/many.
