Mark Transactions as Reconciling
Greetings! Since using Moneydance, I have had my transactions automatically marked as cleared upon confirmation. Unfortunately, while this option is wonderful, it didn't eliminate mistakes made on my part. After paper reconciling for the past four years, I discovered that I had $88 in mistakes for one particular account. This reinforced the idea that I still need to manually reconcile my account.
Marking transactions as cleared upon downloading makes the manual reconciliation process more difficult. I therefore leave that particular setting unchecked because Moneydance doesn't appear to have an "in between" option; it's either downloaded transactions are marked as cleared or not marked at all. I would love to see an option added that allows confirmed transactions to be marked as reconciling. In that case, I can see what has been downloaded but not yet cleared by my manual reconciliation and transactions that have not been downloaded from my bank.
Hopefully, this makes sense.

I think a transaction that has been downloaded but not cleared indicates what you are asking for, no? I guess I'm not quite sure how that's different than some additional 'in between' option. Could you try explaining in more detail?
I don't think we'd want to add an automatically mark as reconciling option because those transactions aren't actually in the process of being reconciled. Marking a transaction as reconciling currently means that one has initiated the manual reconciliation process, and those transactions are part of that process. If they were marked as reconciling after downloading but before one initiated the reconciliation process, wouldn't that add confusion, especially if one didn't start reconciling right away?
