Dashboard sync
The dashboard needs to have a sync on window focus function.
It's obvious it doesn't do it now.
The dashboard goes haywire (usually with information being blank) when I make changes to account transactions from the find/replace extension through a separate Moneydance window. Moneydance has to be restarted to refresh the dashboard.
It is reasonable that the dashboard doesn't constantly update in the background.
But it should refresh when the window comes back into focus.

Can you clarify exactly which thing is the dashboard you are referring to?

Hi Glenn,
Thank you for contacting Moneydance support.
Which version and build of Moneydance are you using?
To check, open Moneydance and select Help --> About Moneydance.
Can you letus know which operating system you're running on your computer?
Is it possible that by 'dashboard' you mean 'register'?
Is the issue you are reporting relevant to the extensions Find & Replace or to Moneydance?

Moneydance 2024.2 (5172)
Lack of a sync signal actually could explain all my issues.
I seem to have to delete the same account from the account drop down.
Which doesn't necessarily update the account left bar which doesn't
necessarily update the main dashboard. This often causes the account to
reappear.
And then after deleting the same account 3 times.
The report system doesn't seem to get the memo.
The find/replace extension is god's mana from heaven.
The fact that the changes in find/replace sometimes knocks down the
dashboard can again be explained by lack of a sync signal.

The Side Bar and the Summary Page Body are deliberately not linked. so you can, if desired, have items in the Side Bar that do not appear in the Body. For example inactive accounts, categories.
Report templates use a fixed query, they they are not automatically impacted by addition/deletion of accounts/categories.

I actually wouldn't mind them not giving the same information if I could
configure it. I would see that as an advanced feature. I don't think I
can or it is definitely not obvious. But they should always be in sync
with the register and with chart of accounts/categories.
This goes for the apparently malfunctioning net worth bar. If I could
configure how it calculates net worth then I wouldn't mind them showing
different values.
The reports configuration setup shows accounts I requested be deleted
moments before. Also it would be a great feature if the reports notified
the user that the conditions have changed.
