Account Balance Report - Let me select $TODAY

Why does the 'Account Balances' report not have an option for 'TODAY'?

Most reports/graphs have the drop down menu, e.g., Month to date, Year to date, Today, All Dates, etc....

I have a memorized account balance report with a subset of my accounts but I need to manually change the date on it every time I open it.

It would be hugely helpful if this report and the other 'snapshot in time' reports offered the option of using $TODAY as the date.

   Hi Timppa,

   It appears that the Account Balances report remembers its prior settings across Moneydance restarts so, until a Date drop-down is implemented or at least as a workaround, you could just use the Account Balances report as-is (without Memorizing it) since it defaults to Today.

   Well, it does have a today setting - when you run the report using today's date, then it saves a special "today" flag into it's settings, and when it sees this it reloads today's date.

   To prove this, use toolbox, general tools, reports, you should be able to see the saved settings.

   So, I highly suspect when you created your memorised reports that you weren't running them on today's date? Try this.. load a mem report, in the date field press t button and get to today, then memorise the report and overwrite the report.

   Check settings in toolbox.

   note: as_of says today and not the date...

   That doesn't work. For it to be useful to me, I need the option to select a subset of my accounts. So unless I feel like doing that every time I need to be able to memorize the report.

   Try this.. load a mem report, in the date field press t button and get to today, then memorise the report and overwrite the report.

   Check settings in toolbox.

   This actually worked! Thank you. Is that 't' keypress documented somewhere? I wasn't aware you could do that.

   FYI. It’s the not t button that made this work. You could equally have just typed today’s date manually, then tab, then save.

   T button just says jump to today rather than typing it.

   There are several different reports I have memorized to look at different subsets of accounts.
