The budget "application/tool" is lacking significantly! Having come from Microsoft Money to this Budget tool I'm very disappointed. Please update this and make it more user friendly and useful. Also I would like to see an income AND expense graph on the front page (at the same time together or side by side). Otherwise I like the program and bought it over iBank and Moneywell.

And also have the ability to exclude items from showing up on expense report (I just want to track checking account for example and not the credit card)

Budgeting needs big help. I'm a newbie to MD but a seasoned user of many of MD's competitors. It is easier to budget in a spreadsheet than in MD.

I'd love to see MD become a stronger player. But it's going to take a better budgeting feature than the program currently has.

The main problem I have with the current Budget Manager is understanding its setup. I have played with it a bit and it seems to work, but do not "get" what the various parameters do. Probably my lack of experience, but seems like it should be easier.

Also, can not seem to get the homepage budgeting bar categories to "roll up" to show only each top parent, assuming that is what "roll up" is supposed to do.

    Hi
the budget bar widget doesn't work if you have more than 1 budget tracking. For example, I want to track my spend on groceries and this works perfectly on the home page widget. However, add another budget to track and I get 'not in budget' for the 2nd one. It appears you can only track one budget in this widget which seems pointless.

The budget list on the left hand side menu lists each budget and when I click on them I do get the correct information displayed but would be nice to have the widget report all my budgets that I want to track my spend on.

put me out of my misery - is this a bug or am I doing something stupid?

    thanks

    Michael

    mdevitt,

I may be incorrect in my understanding and it sounds like you are creating a new budget for each budget category. It is not necessary to create a new budget for each category a single budget can be for many categories. If you open the budget manager tool under Tools->Budget Manager and click the plus (+) button bottom left of the window you can add additional categories to the same budget. See the attached screenshot.
