Add AddressBook Linkage to Online Bill Payees

Add address book linkage to online bill payees window so that an existing address book entity could be used to fill in all the fields, but the name, when creating a payee. And, vice versa, existing payees could be saved to the address book. It would sure be nice to not have to type all your payees back in again when moving from one bank to another or when something breaks an account's bill pay.

I have also recently noticed that payees are not deleted from the "send payment to" drop-down menu when they are deleted from the online bill payment window and connected financial institution; seems like they should.

    Hi avp2

I have created a trac ticket for this suggestion. Here is the link to the ticket:

With regard to payees not deleted from the "send payment to" drop-down I am not experiencing this problem. Are you using the latest build of Moneydance? The latest stable build is 641.

By Address Book, the writer is referring to Apple's Address Book app, I am all for this feature to be added to MoneyDance.
Bento is a good example of the approach.

    HI moikey

I am not certain that was the intention of avp2. In Moneydance payees are stored internally in something called the "Address book". It can be accessed by selecting Tools->Address Book.

Since Moneydance is a cross platform application I think it is unlikely that we will make a modification to the program that can only be used by mac users. Perhasp if there is sufficient demand from mac users we could write an extension to link to the address book app.

You are right Ben. I am suggesting only linkage to the MD built-in address book.

With regards to other address book linkages though, it might be nice if MD's could export/import the vCard format.

By the way, I also just tested the delete payee function in build 751 and it did delete the payee from my bank's list. The payee I deleted had a "processed" payment in MD's online bill payment outbox and it left it in the list with a "?-0000031" designation under the payee column (I did not notice before deleting that the date the payment was supposed to be received was tomorrow - should have looked closer, but it was since it was already sent out by the bank, I think I did not mess it up). In other words, the delete function now seems to work OK.
