Enhancement ideas
As a MS money convert, I miss a few features from that product or never saw in that product that I really wish it had and perhaps MD can incorporate. I haven't seen them discussed either but thought it might be interesting to others as well.
In Reminders: in MS money, you have a few choices on how you want the reminder amount is set. It can be fixed, or variable or variable based on an auto calculation from the last X # of transactions and you can choose the # of transactions. This is helpful for forecasting and more accurately predict what the transaction amount will be.
Shortcut to accounts in the home page I think that speaks for itself. I don't want to have to scroll down 70 accounts in order to get to the most common handful of accounts that I "touch" every day. I see that there's a shortcut reference in the preferences (home page customization) but I have not been able to find anything that references what's in that shortcut "section" or how to customize it.
Shortcut keys: I believe I read somewhere that the shortcut keys will be improved greatly in the 2010 release. I see it in a few 2008 screens but it's seriously lacking in order to make data entry faster, confirming matching transactions after import, etc.
Securities morningstar valuation info, asset class, and risk rating: one of the things that MS Money tried to do but wasn't completely successful was storing this information. Having this information per security per account is incredibly useful for when trying to do asset allocation. I've always wanted to know for each security in each account the following information:
Valuation Size (Large, Medium, Small) - morningstar data is fine from yahoo finance
Investment Valuation (Value, Blend, Growth) - morningstar data is fine from yahoo finance
Asset Class (Bond, Equity, ETF, Mutual Fund) - again, maybe manually updated when adding the security?
Region (Domestic, Global, International, Asia, Europe, South America, etc) - not easy to get but maybe can be updated manually?
Risk rating (can get this right out of yahoo finance off of the morningstar data)
If this information along with # of shares, current price, current value, can be downloaded in excel or csv by security, by account, you can do some pretty awesome asset allocation reporting.
