make past descriptions available to all accounts

I have a suggestion. I love that past Description fields (i.e., most often the Payees in a transaction) autofill as I create new transactions. Also nice is that the Category is also remembered.

But this is true only for one particular account. When I make similar payments to a Payee with the same Category, but with a different credit card, for instance, I would like all those past information remembered when I'm in that account in Moneydance.

A work around that I've been using lately is to just record the transaction in the account which remembers it! Then move the entry to the account where I actually made the transaction. Works, but obviously not elegant. The nice thing with this solution is that once the transaction is in that account, there will then be the memory.

I agree that this is a good idea.

I agree as well. If there is a ticket for it, I'll vote for it.

I actually thought I had suggested this before and was looking for it here or in Trac to see if there was any update. But, alas, I couldn't find it. Perhaps it was in the previous forum.

I searched through the trac system and could not find a ticket for this issue so I created one based on Robs post. Here is the link:

I agree with this 100%. This is a glaring omission. Please can Moneydance fix this, it seems like it would be an easy update.

    Cheers,

I love past description but I also quite like that it is account specific! (cuts down on a lot of stuff to sift through).

If it is a straight change, then I wouldn't like this.

However, if regular transactions from one account took precedence over those from another account, that should keep everyone happy!

I favor the stipulation that forum member Noble One makes in post # 8.
