Like most users I guess, I use a number of Categories and even more subcategories.
My suggestion is that where there are uniquely named subcategories, unique in that there is not another of the same name in any other category then it should be possible to data enter only the the subcategory in the category field with Moneydance auto entering the parent category name. This principle is used very effectively in iCash and saves time doing data entry.

    Dear Harry,

Thank you for your suggestions for improvements to Moneydance.

Our wiki is integrated with our feature request and bug reporting system. Please feel free to use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. We now also have voting on all existing tickets, which helps us determine which requests have the most demand.

In the meantime, if you want to select the category Auto:Fuel you can just type "Au:F" and it will match that category. Pressing the colon will select the first category that has subcategories and that starts with the text already entered ("Au" in this case). In other words, you don't need to type the entire category name before typing the colon. Although this does not completely resolve your request, it may streamline your category entering.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
