'Find' function in 2010 needs work ...
In principle I like the new way the 'Find' function is configured. It's subtle and also consistent with current search functions in MacOSX and web browsers generally.
However - I don't know about other MD users, but when I use the 'Find' function I'm nearly always using one or more of the filters straight up. In previous versions of MD, you'd click on the "Find" button in the toolbar and get straight to the panel with all the filtering options. But with the two stage kind of approach in 2010, you don't have access to the filters until after you've typed something in the search box. That's not very efficient, it seems to me. I'd rather have immediate access to the filters without needing to first type something in the unfiltered search box. e.g. if I'm searching for a transaction amount, it's pointless having to first go through a step where I get a listing of umpteen transactions that happen to have that particular string of numeric characters as part of the description, memo, etc.
So I'd like to suggest that the 'Advanced Search' button be added to the main toolbar next to the 'Find' field.

Hi eNOch
I tend to agree. I'll speak with the developers about having the advanced button always present.
Sincerely

Let me say "me too"! I just spent a half hour trying to figure out how to get the old search functionality back - the "advanced search" doesn't always show up. There should also be a menu item right next to the "find" menu item saying "advanced find..." or something like that.
On Mac OS X 10.6.2, after doing a "jump to" on one of the advanced found items everything looks like an X11 application, even after restarting the MD application! I'll try a log-out/shutdown and see if I can get things back to the Mac look-and-feel...

I would not mind seeing the little binocular find indicator, or just "find", next to the entry window too. i kind of liked the little extra color and graphic the old report and find icons added to the plain toolbar area.
