dealt with in the same field. This field allows you to select
either a category or an account. This column is labeled as
"Category" because that is how most people use it. Personally, I
use it for categories in all situations except when I am making
transfers between accounts- in those cases the category must be the
other account which is impacted by the transfer.</p>

(though not exactly the same, no initial balance for instance), but
I think you are mistaken that most people see them as the same.</p>
<p>In any case, it makes sense that the register column showing
where the "other half" of each (double entry) transaction can be
found should be labeled "category" in an account register. It makes
no sense that it should be labeled the same in a category register
where the other half of the transaction is almost always going to
be in an account.</p>
<p>Maybe the column should be labeled "from/to" and only one "batch
change from/to" command/function be available.</p></div>avp2
