What would be helpful is to have a custom settings capability which would allow the user to set combinations of various transaction conditions and date ranges. Attached is a suggestion of what the tool bar might look like. One implementation could be that clicking this button could bring up a dialog box which would allow the following to be set:

Display Confirmed / Unconfirmed Transactions (confirmed only, unconfirmed only, both)
Display Cleared / Uncleared Transactions (cleared only, uncleared only, both)
  Date Ranges
explicit dates (from date, to date)
date ranges (start date plus X days, or start date minux X days)
     fiscal ranges (quarter, half, year)

Some more implementation suggestions: these settings would be sticky, hovering over the button when active would show the settings.

Here's another implementation suggestion. Currently, the "Unconfirmed", "Uncleared", and various date buttons are exclusive OR'ed. There is no reason why this needs be so for some combinations of buttons. The custom filter function implementation could also be achieved with a series of selection buttons that are not exclusive OR'ed together. The transaction status filter buttons could cycle through their various settings e.g. "uncleared", "cleared", and "cleared & uncleared". There still may be a need for a custom date button.

We currently have plans to make the search bar/filter have a more complex syntax. Such that you can filter on specific fields. It wouldn't be much of a stretch to allow custom filtering on "Unconfirmed", "Uncleared" etc... in the search bar. I'll bring it with the developers when we next meet.

    Sincerely
