Desktop icons are low-res

Both the Windows and Linux desktop icons appear fuzzy and in low resolution on the desktop. When convenient, my suggestion is to provide a higher resolution icon that looks good on modern screens. I'm currently using 1024 x 768 @ 16-bit. Thanks!

    Hi Ralph

You are absolutely right. The icon is only 32x32. I have attached the 128x128 icon if you want to modify yours. I'll make sure that the hi res icon is included in the next update.

The program icon on the Mac dock looks good (the same as the one above), but if I minimise the running program (with the yellow button), I get a horrible lo-res green circle with a white M in it on the dock. Can this be changed to either be the same as the program icon, or a minimised version of the actual screen?

    Thanks!

    Hi Neil,

What versions of Moneydance and Mac OSX are you running? I don't see the green circle in the current stable release (751). Could you possibly send a screenshot of what you're seeing?

    Hi Jessica,

    I'm using 2010 R3 (751) on OSX 10.6.6.

As I say, the main program icon is fine, it's just the icon you get when you minimise the running program to the dock with the yellow button. I guess you wouldn't see this if you've got 'Minimise Windows into Application Icon' checked in the OSX Dock Preferences

    Here's a screenshot:

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,

    Hi Neil,

Are you running a clean install of Moneydance, or did you upgrade from a previous version? On my test machine, I don't get the old icon at all, whether or not I have that checkbox checked. When it minimizes to the dock, it just goes the new icon. The fact that you have both icons showing makes me wonder if you have two versions of Moneydance installed somehow, or something similar.

    Hi Jessica,

My original installation was 750. I've tried deleting the app by dragging to the Trash, then redownloading and installing, but I still get the same. Are there still files that I need to trash manually between removing and reinstalling?

    Hi Neil,

Dragging the app to the trash should delete all of the relevant files. There is also a hidden preferences folder called ".moneydance" located in you Home folder, but it shouldn't contain things like program icons. You could try uninstalling and then rebooting before the re-install.

    Hi Jessica,

I tried a clean install on another Mac, which has definitely never had Moneydance installed on it, downloading from the link on your home page (Moneydance 2010 r3 running on Mac OS X 10.6.6) and I still get the same 'M' icon.

Just to be clear, the Moneydance icon in the main part of the dock is always the correct 'wallet' icon, it's the icon that I get on the right hand side of the dock when I minimise using the yellow button that's the 'M'. That's with System Preferences>Dock>'Minimize windows into application icon' unchecked (i think this is the default setting on OS X).

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for the update. I tried a different machine as was finally able to see the icon you're talking about. I have no idea why I couldn't get it on the first Mac . I've attached a bug ticket to this case for this and pointed it out to our developers. Hopefully we can get it fixed in a future release.

Thanks for pointing this out! Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance!
