Report Suggestions
Switched from Quicken 2006 to MD2010 this last weekend. Still sorting a lot of things out, of course, but from this spot I can see a number of reporting upgrades which would be VERY helpful:
- Check number range report (Search report seems to only allow
one check number)
- Sorting option in Search Report by date, category, description,
check number, memo
- To be able to make a useful report on specific tags, we need to be able to add tags to every end of split bank transactions. A payroll check may have 9 splits. I cannot put a tag on the bank side, only the 9 individual categories. Why not?
Please forgive me if I have overlooked these options in MD2010,
but I have been computing since 1983, Mac-ing since 1988, and
MD-ing for at least 25 hours now, and haven't been able to find
these options.

Another option that needs to be in the Search Report section somewhere is memos. The Transaction Report has memos option but if it is going away, the Search Report needs that option. That's where I put account numbers, SSNs, other important stuff. I cannot get that data out of MD into a spreadsheet if there is not a report that will generate it...
A column option in the Search Report would be a good way to do it. That way one can have as much or as little info as desired.

Rc,
Thank you for these suggestions, we are always interested in hearing what features would make reports more useful to our users. Our feature request and bug reporting system is integrated with our wiki. We invite our users to register and use these systems to help improve Moneydance by bringing bugs to our attention and requesting new features. Users can also vote on tickets, which helps us determine how wide-spread bugs are and which requests have the most demand.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance.
