Report with or without split detail

Another report suggestion: An option for the Search Report to show or hide splits.

The Search Report lists every split on a different line if you restrict it to a single account. So, a search on a payroll date with 10 checks and associated withholdings gives me a report of nearly 70 lines!! Not to mention the fact that I cannot see the actual amount of each check because all of the splits are showing. And "Show Splits" is not checked.

I just want the ten checks, maybe "X-splits," then the check amount and total amount. That's 10 lines.

I did the Search Report without restricting it to a single account, and it gave me the report I wanted, with the splits collapsed. But, what if I had credit card transactions in the same date range?

I am using a trial version of Moneydance. I'm having the same problem with the Search and Transaction reports. I'm a church treasurer and I have to split my deposits so the offering shows all of the separate gifts for Sunday Offering. However, when I do my end of the month reports these split details cannot show on the report. I can't use this program if I can't hide the splits on the reports. I need to use names to generate giving reports at the end of the year. If this was resolved I like the software.

    Zac:
I am also a church treasurer, but I use Moneydance strictly for bookkeeping of the various checking and credit card accounts. I would think Moneydance would be a less than elegant option to keep track of all of your donations/donors and be able to make a contributions statement at the end of the year. I use Filemaker Pro to track donors and donations and generate contrib reports, then I just split the deposits into General Fund, Building Fund, Missions, etc.

There are a lot of church apps out there, especially if you are on a PC. Quickbooks might even do an okay job, since it is designed to make invoices and have a lot of vendor addresses. However, I would NOT advise Quicken or Quickbooks if you are using a Mac.

    Rod,
Thanks for the suggestion. I used Quicken for PC for nine years without a problem. However, my son told me I needed to go to Mac (no viruses, no constant updates, no corrupt files, the list goes on). I love my mac and don't ever intend to go back to a PC. The only problem is finding good finance software. I have Quicken for Mac and it has been a major disappointment.
Our church is set up so that the finance/audit committee takes care of sending year end giving reports. I just track all the giving and expenses throughout the year and the committee audits my books and sends out giving reports and fills out the audit and finance reports to the conference. Therefore my annual reports only go to the committee, monthly reports are seen by the full board and they only want the numbers not the details. Thanks again, I hope this bug is worked out because MoneyDance is the best Mac finance software I've seen to date. Zac
