Importing QIF files - default account

Several of the accounts I use are not online, thus I import the transactions using QIF import. The issue here is an irritating one, the default destination account is always the last account that I used as an import destination. I think it would be better to use the selected account from the sidebar as the default destination.

I am afraid not. Quickbooks uses a closed proprietary file format and does not export to the standard QIF files.

    Ben,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I am utterly disgusted with quickbooks and am desperate to switch to different software. However, I need to find a program that will allow me to import from quickbooks. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Marc

I am afraid you are in for a hard time getting your data out of Quickbooks. To my knowledge there are no other finance management programs that read Quickbooks data files. Not even other intuit products such as Quicken. This topic has come up a number of times on the Moneydance forums I have never heard of someone successfully migrating their data from quickbooks to anything else.

I recall one other user trying the following to export from Quickbooks to QIF

    http://xl2qif.chez-alice.fr/xl2qif_en.php

Though I believe they were only partly successful.

    Sincerely
