Neither Quicken, MS Money, nor MD have the ability to download pending bank transactions unless if the bank offers that capability.

Once a transaction has cleared the bank, then MD can "enter such payments into the appropriate register automatically when doing an online download".

james ftag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/32248692010-10-05T13:38:51Z2010-10-05T13:38:51ZAdd Ability for "Online" Function to Update Scheduled Payments Not Made Through MD

I do not think it a less desirable feature because no one else has it.

If all scheduled payments for an account can be shown in one of MD's windows (bill payment), it would seem entirely possible for MD to then enter those in the account's register - just as pending payments made in MD are now listed.

If it is really not possible, it would be handy if one could have the on-line bill payment window open when doing a manual transaction entry.

avp2tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/32248692010-10-05T15:15:55Z2010-10-05T15:15:55ZAdd Ability for "Online" Function to Update Scheduled Payments Not Made Through MD

Avp2,

This isn't currently possible using OFX direct connect. OFX direct connect uses a special server at your bank, and as far as I know there are no banks which post pending payments to this server, only completed payments. The online bill payment window does hold whatever pending payment information is available from your bank through the bill pay interface, but I am not sure it is appropriate for MD to add this information to the register when the bill payment is initiated elsewhere. The OFX direct connection download into your register is a one-way transfer of information from the bank to you. If a pending transaction is entered in the register, but later changed or deleted through the non-Moneydance bill payment interface, there is currently no way for the OFX server to communicate that information.

I do understand that it would be handy to have the online bill payment window open when doing manual transaction entry, and I have created a ticket for this issue. The ticket is attached to this discussion. By posting in this discussion your interest in the ticket has been registered. This is equivalent to voting for it. We will post on this forum thread if and when there are further developments on this topic.
